Thin is in!

Grooper version 2024 has been out for month now.  But we’re finding a lot of the details about this version of Grooper are still unknown – so we’re going to try to fix that with a series of newsletters to cover not only the changes in Grooper 2024, but also why these matter to you, the Grooper user.

The single biggest change in Grooper 2024 is the removal of the thick client.  Grooper is now 100% run and managed through a web browser.

We think this change is “kind of a big deal,” because it opens the door up to more options with Grooper deployments.  The only software installed on a desktop now is a small application to support scanning.  But that’s only needed on a PC a scanner is connected to.

This means that Grooper is better than ever in cloud environments.  All your users need is a web browser to interact with Grooper.

Grooper’s had a web-browser interface since version 2022, so that’s not new – but having the browser be the only way to interact with Grooper is.

As we move Grooper towards cloud-native versions, this was an essential change – and it’s opened up possibilities that were infeasible with a desktop client.

Of course, that wasn’t the only change in Grooper 2024, so watch for our next newsletter that covers all the LLM updates in 2024 – and there are a lot of them.

Or you can read about all the changes on the Grooper Wiki.  If you don’t have an account, request one, and we’ll get you set up.
