What are LLMs?

We’ve had many questions about Large Language Models (LLMs) and Grooper.  But what are LLMs? Why are they important?

LLMs are a class of Artificial Intelligence models that are trained on massively large collections of data.  They use a technology that Google invented, called Transformers.

After they are trained on billions or trillions of “parameters,” humans influence the results – choosing good responses over bad.  This process continues until results are acceptable.

These parameters are also called “word vectors” and essentially allow a mathematical representation of words.  This enables these models to determine the similarities of words.  For instance, they know the relationship between “cat” and “dog,” and also know that meow is related to “cat,” but not to “dog.”

In a nutshell, LLMs are able to break down data into relevant parts, and represent those relationships better than any other AI technology to date.

LLMs = Less Work

As a result, LLMs are very good with language structure – something that Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) has struggled with for decades.  LLMs make it easier to get certain types of data from documents.

With LLMs, there’s no need to write regular expressions.

We’ve been at the forefront of LLM integration for the last two years.  Grooper was the first IDP to include LLM integration starting with Grooper 2023.

Now, Grooper has deep integrations into the LLM world. Our software supports thousands of different LLMs, and we make the world of LLMs easy for you to use and get value from.

How Grooper Improves LLMs

However, LLMs need clean data to give you great results. Grooper’s superior OCR (including handwriting) creates near-perfect text for an LLM to extract the data you want and need.

Superior results with easier setup.
